The prominent civil rights advocacy group, the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement, has finalized operational plans to stage a massive, coordinated public protest on Monday, June 22, 2026, to vent growing public anger over the worsening security architecture and the unresolved mass abduction of school children and teachers within Oyo State.
According to a media brief issued over the weekend by the Oyo State Coordinator of the movement, Dimeji Salako, the peaceful demonstration is scheduled to converge at the strategic transit hub of Iwo Road in Ibadan, the state capital.
The heavy mobilization stems directly from a gruesome mass kidnapping incident that occurred more than a month ago in the Ogbomoso axis, where heavily armed bandits intercepted and carted away 40 innocent school children alongside seven of their teachers into dense forest reserves.
Salako expressed deep bitterness that despite multiple weeks rolling by, the state and federal security agencies have failed to secure the release of the 47 victims, leaving their distressed families in a state of absolute psychological agony.
"It is over one month now since the abduction of 40 schoolchildren and seven teachers in Oyo State and nothing is being done by the government to ensure their release," Oyo TIB Coordinator Dimeji Salako declared. "Rather than for the situation to get better, insecurity has only worsened as Nigeria has recorded even more attacks by bandits since then."
The movement raised an intense alarm over how vulnerable local masses are continuously bearing the brutal brunt of criminal syndicates who execute unchecked raids, murders, and high-value ransom schemes.
The upcoming Monday rally is designed to function as an escalation of the nationwide civil demonstrations executed on June 12, where thousands of protesters across major centers like Abuja, Lagos, and Osun demanded immediate food security and structural defense overhauls.
TIB called upon market unions, student groups, and general residents of Ibadan to turn out in massive numbers on Monday to collectively demand an uncompromised end to banditry and the immediate return of the Ogbomoso captives.
