A wave of panic has gripped Tsamiya town in Kebbi State after heavily armed terrorists executed a violent, late-night raid on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The attackers stormed the community under the cover of darkness, firing weapons indiscriminately into the air and setting multiple structures ablaze.
Among the properties destroyed in the arson attack were a makeshift checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a local commercial brothel, and the private residence of a community member identified as Sule Mai Goge.
Before fleeing into nearby forest reserves, the criminal gang successfully abducted a prominent local resident identified as Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare.
The state police command received emergency distress signals during the assault and immediately initiated tactical defensive maneuvers to protect the surviving villagers and prevent the armed syndicates from overrunning neighboring residential quarters.
"The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of 20th June 2026," State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed in an official briefing early Sunday morning.
"A comprehensive investigation into the incident has since commenced, and efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and track the perpetrators are ongoing."
The Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate deployment of heavily armed reinforcing forces to hold the Tsamiya axis and stabilize surrounding border rural communities.
While regional anxiety remains exceptionally high due to the daring nature of the border assault, the police command has urged the public to maintain absolute calm and vigilance, appealing to local farmers and community leaders to supply credible intelligence tips to assist ongoing counter-terrorism tracking operations.
