Armed Terrorists on Motorcycles Set Fire to Classroom Blocks and Staff Offices

Fears of renewed insurgent activity have gripped communities in the North-East after a heavily armed squad of suspected Boko Haram terrorists launched a violent weekend assault on Kautikari Village within the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

The midnight raid, which occurred at approximately 6:45 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, resulted in the tragic death of one male resident and the extensive destruction of vital academic infrastructure, as the insurgents deliberately set ablaze a large structural block containing five classrooms and a central staff office.

Confirming the devastating attack to journalists on Sunday afternoon, the Education Secretary of Chibok LGA, Malam Kyari, revealed that the targeted facility belonged to the Junior Secondary School section of Government Day Secondary School, Kautikari.

Local sources speaking under anonymity revealed that the terrorists stormed the quiet border town riding on high-speed operational motorcycles, firing sporadically into the air to scatter terrified villagers before zeroing in on the educational complex with arson materials.

“I can confirm that the insurgents attacked the Kautikari community yesterday, killed one person, and set ablaze one block containing five classrooms and an office at Kautikari JSS,” Education Secretary Malah Kyari reported exclusively.

Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, verified the incident but emphasized that a catastrophic escalation was successfully averted due to a rapid, high-caliber counter-offensive launched by a combined force of military troops and local security operatives.

ASP Daso stated that the joint forces engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat back into the fringes of the Sambisa forest corridor.

The police command assured the public that additional tactical assets have been deployed to Chibok and its adjoining agrarian communities to maintain absolute calm and conduct intensive border patrols.
