European football governing body UEFA has officially introduced two major regulatory amendments across its premier club competitions ahead of the upcoming league phase campaign.
The rule adjustments, which apply directly to the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League, were formally communicated to national member associations and participating clubs to standardize match management for the new European season.
The primary modification alters the disciplinary threshold for player bookings during competition play. Under the revised framework, the yellow card ceiling required to trigger an automatic one-match suspension has been increased from three yellow cards to four, giving teams greater squad flexibility during extended tournament runs.

The change aims to reduce early suspension risks as clubs navigate the newly expanded league format.
Additionally, UEFA has formally discarded its long-held stadium operations regulation that previously mandated stadium clocks to stop at exactly 45 and 90 minutes.
Stadium display boards will now continue running through added injury time in both halves. The announcement arrives as teams prepare for the Champions League play-off rounds scheduled to commence later this month.
