UBA Debunks Divorce Rumors: Three Arrested for Malicious Falsehood Against Tony Elumelu

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has issued a strong rebuttal following viral social media claims alleging that its Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, has divorced his wife, Awele. 

In a statement released Sunday by Alero Ladipo, Group Head of Brand and Marketing, the bank described the rumors as "fabricated, reckless, and malicious."

UBA confirmed that law enforcement agencies have already arrested three individuals linked to the dissemination of the fake news: Kingsley Akunemeihe (@Directorkem), Chigozie Ihebom, and John Nwanorue (@problemchimky). 

The bank warned that it will pursue full civil and criminal action against any platforms or individuals who continue to share the defamatory content, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the privacy and reputation of its chairman.
