BBNaija’s Phyna Predicts Imminent Collapse of Nigeria’s Streaming Industry

Former reality TV star-turned-streamer, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has predicted an impending collapse of Nigeria’s booming streaming industry due to an over-reliance on artificial hype, fake news, and clout-chasing.

Speaking during a joint livestream with Jeffrey Benson, the Big Brother Naija winner argued that local audience consumption habits encourage creators to "clip farm" and pull outrageous stunts rather than build distinct niches.

She admitted to starting out with a high-energy approach but noted she dialed back her output because she could not sustain that style of content.

Pleading with her peers to adopt a long-term mindset, Phyna warned that without a shift toward high-value, meaningful content, public fatigue will eventually cause the streaming ecosystem to falter.

"Streaming in Nigeria will soon collapse because Nigerians push streamers that clip farm, go crazy and tell lies just to entertain streams. I was crazy when I started but I decided to chill." — Phyna, Reality TV Star & Streamer
