Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has formally resigned his membership from the party.
Jegede’s resignation was conveyed in an official letter dated August 7, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of Ward 11 (Owode/Imagun Ward) in Akure South Local Government Area.
Jegede, who served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice under former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, was the PDP’s standard-bearer in both the 2016 and 2020 Ondo State gubernatorial elections.
His departure follows recent defections by key political associates, led by Hon. Balarabe Abiodun Akinwunmi, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Political observers indicate that Jegede is positioning for an official alignment with the ADC ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
