Why Is Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra CAD Renders Trending?

Tech outlets and mobile reviewers are buzzing over exclusive factory CAD renders of the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra published by prominent leaker @OnLeaks in partnership with AndroidHeadlines.

The leaked 3D factory schematics reveal that Samsung is abandoning its long-standing individual floating camera ring design—which the company previously dubbed part of its "core identity"—in favor of its most drastic redesign in years:

  • The "Camera Plateau": The renders show a large, raised rectangular camera island spanning the top rear panel, drawing visual comparisons to recent Google Pixel and iPhone models. Including the camera bump, total device thickness jumps from 7.97mm to 12.53mm.

  • Three Rear Cameras Instead of Four: The CAD design confirms the removal of the dedicated 10MP 3x telephoto sensor. Samsung will instead rely on a next-generation 200MP ISOCELL main sensor with in-sensor cropping for mid-range zoom, paired with a 50MP 5x optical telephoto lens and an upgraded 50MP ultrawide sensor.

  • Battery & Hardware Upgrades: The freed internal space enables Samsung to equip the device with a larger 5,700 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery. The integrated S Pen slot remains intact along the bottom left edge.
