Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he took a significant pay cut to complete a deadline-day transfer from Arsenal to FC Barcelona.
The 29-year-old striker joined Hansi Flick's side on a three-year contract after Barcelona agreed to an initial £8.6 million fee with Arsenal, alongside an additional £4.3 million in performance-related add-ons.
Entering the final year of his deal at the Emirates Stadium, Jesus expressed immense gratitude to Barcelona sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick for finalizing the move following two injury-plagued seasons in North London.
"Not only did I make an effort, but Barça also made a great effort to make this signing happen. I lowered my salary significantly, but it is a dream to be here at Barcelona." — Gabriel Jesus
