Operatives of the Cross River State Police Command have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the fatal stabbing of 20-year-old Uwem Daniel Akpan in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Sunday Eitokpah confirmed on Tuesday that the incident occurred around 7:30 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2026, following an altercation on Peters Street in the Awi community.
The victim sustained critical stab wounds and was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
Police confirmed the suspect remains in custody as the case is processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
