Tragedy has once again struck Kaduna State after suspected bandits launched separate violent attacks across Chikun and Makarfi Local Government Areas, resulting in the murder of a Joint Task Force (JTF) volunteer and a prominent local businessman, as well as the abduction of a woman and her young child.
The first incident occurred in Kyauta New Millennium City, located within Chikun Local Government Area, when armed assailants invaded the residential community.
The attackers broke into a family home and abducted a woman identified as Asma'u alongside her son, Umar. Her husband managed to evade capture by taking refuge inside his parked vehicle while the bandits operated.
Local security volunteers from the Joint Task Force immediately mobilized to trace the kidnappers into the surrounding brush. During an exchange of gunfire, one JTF member was shot in the head.
The volunteer was rushed to Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in Kaduna for emergency medical care but succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
In a concurrent raid, bandits invaded the Gubuchi community in Makarfi Local Government Area. The armed gang targeted and kidnapped a well-known local businessman, Alhaji Rabo Gesha Gubuchi, before ultimately killing him.
Senior security officials have confirmed the attacks, noting that tactical operations are ongoing to trace the bandits and secure the release of the abducted mother and son. As of the time of filing this report, official statements from the Kaduna State Police Command remain pending.
"A mother and her child were kidnapped, but the father managed to escape during the attack. One of our JTF members was shot and died at the hospital." — JTF Security Volunteer
