Prominent Anambra businessman and Chairman of Jezco Group, Chief Joseph Ezeokafor (popularly known as J.J. Ezeokafor), along with an abducted reverend sister, have regained their freedom after being held by armed kidnappers.
The duo were abducted at Ifite-Awka in Awka South Local Government Area before safely returning in the early hours of Saturday.
Spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed their release, stating that security agencies are actively investigating the incident.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended their safe return and ordered an intensified, intelligence-led operation to apprehend the perpetrators operating in the axis.
Family sources reported that the victims were retrieved near the Ebenebe area near the Anambra-Enugu border following ransom negotiations.
Police authorities urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to assist ongoing security operations.
