Speaking in his inaugural interview as a Chelsea player after completing his move from Aston Villa, the versatile attacker shared that the pair had frequently discussed playing in the same club side.

Rogers and Palmer first linked up as 14-year-olds within the England youth setup before spending formative years together in Manchester City's academy system.

The new arrival disclosed that Palmer had been relentlessly contacting him throughout the transfer negotiations to encourage the reunion.

"I have known Cole since I was about 14, first in the England youth teams and then when we were both at Man City together.

We have been speaking about this for a while; we always would love to have played together. He’s non-stop ringing my phone, texting me, and I can’t wait."

The attacker expressed excitement about sharing the pitch with one of his closest friends at the highest level, noting that their natural chemistry on and off the field will help him adapt quickly to life in West London under Chelsea's ongoing squad rebuild.
