Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has firmly dismissed swirling rumours regarding his alleged resignation, describing the reports as baseless and orchestrated by detractors unhappy with national security progress.
Speaking to State House correspondents on Tuesday following a private security briefing with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, the Defence Minister confirmed he intends to pursue legal action against those originating the claims.
Musa revealed that he was shocked to encounter the false reports online and emphasized that at no point had he discussed stepping down from his ministerial position.
He framed the disinformation campaign as a calculated attempt to sabotage public confidence in the armed forces during a period of measurable operational gains against insurgency and banditry.
"I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this. I don't even know who the person is that brought that information. But whoever it is, we will take legal action against them.
Security is improving, things are getting better, and for them, that is a sad point."
The minister noted that President Tinubu expressed full satisfaction with the military's current performance and ongoing operations across the country.
Musa, who was appointed Defence Minister in December 2025 after serving as Chief of Defence Staff since July 2023, called on citizens to sustain their support for the armed forces through a whole-of-society security strategy.
