Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, paid a high-profile visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Abuja as part of an ongoing series of political consultations following his recent electoral victory.
A photograph of the meeting, shared on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, showed Governor Adeleke shaking hands with the FCT Minister while both leaders jointly held up Adeleke’s newly issued Certificate of Return.
The visit to Wike’s residence occurred just hours after the Osun State Governor held a closed-door consultation with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
Adeleke arrived at the Villa accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu alongside senior Osun State government officials, including his Campaign Director-General and Chief of Staff.
During his audience with the President, Governor Adeleke officially presented his Certificate of Return and expressed profound gratitude for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the governorship election.
Adeleke secured his re-election on the platform of the Accord Party after polling 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 444,815 votes, with Adeleke winning 19 out of the state's 30 local government areas.
Addressing State House correspondents shortly after leaving the Presidential Villa, Adeleke commended President Tinubu for maintaining strict non-interference throughout the electoral process.
Describing the President as a dedicated democrat, Adeleke noted that his visit was primarily aimed at showing appreciation for the administration's respect for democratic principles.
"Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy. That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result. That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria." — Governor Ademola Adeleke
