The Presidency has officially directed Nigeria’s apex security and anti-graft agencies to aggressively fish out, arrest, and prosecute deeply embedded public officials who allegedly collaborated with a suspected con artist, Matthew Adeniyi Adeyemi, to illegally operate two completely fictitious Federal Government agencies.
The high-profile intervention follows intense national debates surrounding the activities of Adeyemi, who stands accused of masterminding the elaborate fabrication of the "Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council" (PFIPC) and the "Presidential Economic Advisory Council" using highly sophisticated forged documents directly mimicking the seal of the Presidency.
In a detailed public brief issued via his verified X handle, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, emphasized that unmasking the institutional network that enabled the fraud to function undetected over a prolonged period is now the absolute priority for federal investigators.
"In Nigeria, the easiest and most believable allegation anyone can throw at a public officer is corruption. Once that accusation is thrown into the mix, the water is polluted, the lines are blurred and everyone is kept busy arguing over distractions rather than the real issues.
Dismantling the internal network that sustained Adeyemi’s activities is now the most critical task before investigators," Temitope Ajayi asserted.
The State House strongly criticized the ongoing public commentary for ignoring a vital operational reality: that the inherent security and internal audit mechanisms of the Federal Government detected the multi-million Naira scam and actively moved to neutralize it.
The Presidency has explicitly disowned the two fraudulent bodies, firmly reiterating that the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, never authorized the suspect’s operations, nor did he maintain any form of connection with the enterprise.
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been mandated to expand their forensic probe beyond the principal suspect to cleanly purge the civil service of internal enablers.
