The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially rolled out a comprehensive, revised regulatory framework governing admissions into the National Certificate in Education (NCE) and non-technology National Diploma (ND) Agric-related programmes ahead of the 2026/2027 academic session.
Formulated under the leadership of JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the major operational shift aims to completely streamline candidate screening, eradicate structural bottlenecks, and entrench transparency across all participating Colleges of Education nationwide.
The most sweeping structural reform within the new guidelines is the immediate, absolute discontinuation of direct admissions into university-affiliated degree programmes through the traditional 100-level and 200-level entry routes inside Colleges of Education.
Under the freshly ratified matrix, all entry-level admissions into these colleges must be processed exclusively via the baseline NCE pathway. For candidates caught mid-cycle in the 2026 admission wave, JAMB has provided immediate transition options, allowing them to explicitly choose between transferring directly to the parent universities of their affiliated schools, switching to alternative institutions, or reverting cleanly to standard NCE training paths.
To permanently stamp out the presentation of forged academic credentials, the board has implemented a mandatory cryptographic verification code system for all foundational O'Level examination bodies—including the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examinations Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).
Candidates are required to undergo complete verification from these bodies to unlock their profile code prior to visiting an accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) center.
Furthermore, the board announced a special, time-bound condonement exercise tailored specifically for students who obtained admission through irregular, non-CAPS procedures during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 sessions, allowing them to regularize their status.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's Public Communication Advisor, concluded the Abuja briefing by warning that institutions recommending candidates outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) will face severe regulatory sanctions, emphasizing that candidates carrying "awaiting results" will be automatically locked out of processing queues until validation codes are submitted.
