Youth Transition: NECOM Concludes Screening and Guarantees Credible Phase for IYC Election
The preparations for the transition of leadership within the foremost Niger Delta youth ethnic coalition have reached an advanced stage following the official conclusion of candidate vetting.
As regional stakeholders eagerly anticipate the upcoming change of guards, the electoral body has put strict measures in place to maintain administrative transparency. The body has finalized essential operational plans across all regional chapters to deliver an unassailable and historic transition phase.
According to Channels TV online, the National Electoral Committee (NECOM) of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has officially confirmed that the national election to usher in the 10th National Executive Council will proceed as scheduled.
Out of a total of 43 aspirants who purchased nomination forms to contest for various national offices, 41 individuals were successfully cleared.
However, the committee disqualified two aspirants on the grounds of being overage, noting that they strictly failed to meet the mandatory 18-to-45-year age limit stipulated in the council's Ataba constitution.
The electoral committee strongly admonished all political interests, external actors, and state apparatuses to stay clear of the polling process.
NECOM emphasized that it will completely reject any form of government interference, intimidation, or systemic manipulation, maintaining that the ballot remains an exclusive internal democratic affair of the Ijaw youth.
To guarantee maximum safety during the physical exercise, comprehensive security arrangements have been established around the designated voting venues, particularly honoring the historical traditional stool of the kingdom.
In a final address, the committee lauded the cleared candidates for demonstrating maturity, peaceful conduct, and mutual cooperation throughout the rigorous screening days.
NECOM urged all loyal supporters to keep their ongoing campaigns issue-based, responsible, and free from polarizing rhetoric. The election remains set to establish a free, fair, and transparent exercise that reflects the core democratic aspirations of all Ijaw youths across various clans, chapters, and regional zones.
