Held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the INEC FCT Conference Hall in Abuja, the training focused heavily on updating staff responsible for database management on the statutory requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Representing the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Bimbo Oladunjoye, explicitly warned participants about the severe legal and institutional implications of internal data breaches, urging the workforce to uphold transparency, password management, and strict access control workflows.

The controversy intensified following detailed media reports that the unauthorized extraction from the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) database was linked to valid internal staff credentials and subsequently distributed by Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
