The mass abduction originated on March 4, 2026, when heavily armed Boko Haram fighters launched a multi-directional raid on a military installation and civilian quarters in Ngoshe, burning down tactical operational vehicles, dispersing local defense networks, killing an unspecified number of citizens, and carting away hundreds of vulnerable hostages into the deep enclaves of the Sambisa axis.

BOSYA had subsequently served as a vital intermediary, establishing contact with the insurgent cells after the terror group released video footage displaying the captives in mid-April.
Celebrating their freedom, Kaigama issued an urgent public appeal to the Borno State Government led by Governor Babagana Zulum, the Federal Government, and military medical teams to urgently deploy rigorous profiling, psychosocial evaluation, and health screening protocols to safely reintegrate the traumatized women and children into society.
