The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully dismantled a localized kidnapping conspiracy, safely rescuing a four-year-old boy named Musa and arresting two principal adult suspects following a swift, intelligence-led tactical operation.
Disclosing the operational success in an official security statement released on Friday, June 12, 2026, the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, revealed that detectives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) swung into high-gear action immediately after receiving an emergency kidnapping complaint lodged by the toddler’s distressed 45-year-old father, a resident of the Gida Dudu Housing Estate in Bauchi metropolis.
The investigation uncovered an elaborate web of domestic deception. On Wednesday, June 10, the primary suspect, 39-year-old Muhammad Usman, allegedly lured the little boy away from his family residence and transferred him to the apartment of a co-conspirator, 40-year-old Hayatudeen Ahmad, who lived within the exact same housing estate.

To effectively conceal the abduction, Usman lied to Ahmad, claiming the toddler was his nephew whose mother was critically ill, pleading that it was too late to travel down to Kano that evening.
While the child was kept overnight, Usman drafted a secret ransom note demanding N5 million from the boy's family.
Armed with digital tracking infrastructure, police detectives raided the safehouse, recovering the child alive and in pristine health before reuniting him with his parents.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, highly commended the rescue team's professionalism and urged parents nationwide to rigorously educate young children against trusting strangers.
