John Arum Azi, a graduate of the University of Jos, has shared a harrowing testimony of how a fraudulent welding job offer led him into the hands of kidnappers.
Speaking at a church in Jos on Sunday, Azi recounted how he was lured from Plateau to Zaria, Kaduna State, after the abductors persistently called him and even sent transport fare to appear legitimate.
Once he arrived in Zaria, he was taken deep into a forest, stripped of his tools, and forced into a camp in Zamfara State.
Azi described 11 days of intense torture and interrogation.

Initially denying his Christian faith out of fear, he was eventually outed when he reflexively shouted "Jesus" during a beating.
From that moment on, his captors nicknamed him "Pastor" and subjected him to further psychological and physical abuse.
According to Qubes Magazine, Azi’s family was forced to pay a ransom that was eventually reduced from N30 million to N6 million, though the kidnappers demanded more before his final release.
Azi urged other graduates to be cautious of "too-good-to-be-true" job offers, highlighting the lack of security presence along the isolated forest routes used by the syndicates.
