Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have successfully rescued the remaining nine victims abducted from the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage in Zariagi, Kogi State.
The operation, conducted on May 6, 2026, under Operation Tiger Paw II, saw the victims intercepted within the Agbaja Forest area following weeks of intense search-and-rescue efforts.
The rescued group includes five boys, two girls, and two adult women, identified as the wives of the orphanage proprietor.

They were evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre for first aid and are currently in stable condition. In a simultaneous operation, troops arrested a suspected ammunition courier, Yahaya Umar, along the Obajana-Lokoja road.
Umar was found with 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition hidden inside a bag of maize.
According to Qubes Magazine, the Daarul-Kitab orphanage was attacked approximately two weeks ago.
While 17 victims were freed on the day of the raid, this latest success brings the total number of rescued persons to 26, effectively ending the hostage crisis for the institution.
