The investigation into the extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Mena has taken a significant turn following the arrest of the individual who allegedly sent the weapon used in the crime.
Two suspects were moved into the Effurun Area Command on Wednesday night as police intensify their search for all persons involved in the movement of the illegal firearm.
The suspects include the individual who reportedly sent a Barretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition via a transport line from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to Effurun, Delta State.

It was this weapon that was recovered from Mena at a motor park, leading to his fatal shooting by the now-dismissed ASP Nuhu Usman. “One of them is the person who sent the gun... the trail continues for the other suspects,” a source revealed.
According to Qubes Magazine, this development follows the recent mass transfer of over 1,300 police officers from the Delta Command to restore public trust.
While police authorities have remained officially silent on the new arrests, the apprehension of the gun runner is seen as a crucial step in uncovering the full chain of events that led to the tragic death of the victim.
