Mrs. Love Marcus, a resident of the Gidan Waya community in Kaduna State, has finally regained her freedom after a harrowing ordeal in captivity that saw her give birth in a bandits' camp.
Her testimony was shared on Friday, May 8, 2026, during a trauma counseling program titled “The Rod and the Staff,” organized by the Christian Awareness Initiative of Nigeria.
The nightmare began when armed men invaded her community, killing her husband and abducting her while she was heavily pregnant.

Despite her condition, she was forced to march through rough terrain and was reportedly beaten whenever she collapsed.
Rev. Fr. Yakubu Jerry revealed that while the kidnappers initially demanded ₦40 million, the total ransom eventually climbed to approximately ₦77 million, including logistics costs, before she and other survivors were released.
According to Qubes Magazine, Mrs. Marcus is now struggling with severe emotional trauma, facing the reality of raising a child born in the forest without her late husband.
Two other victims reportedly died in captivity during the negotiations that lasted several weeks.
