A Federal High Court in Kaduna has granted former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, permission to access medical treatment while in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The ruling, delivered by Justice Rilwan Aikawa on Wednesday, followed a "compassionate plea" by El-Rufai’s legal team during his ongoing trial for alleged money laundering and corruption.
The defence specifically requested that the former governor be allowed to visit Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye-Q Hospital in Abuja for specialized care.

Justice Aikawa approved the request but mandated that the ICPC must convey El-Rufai under strict supervision and return him to custody immediately following each procedure.
El-Rufai is currently facing a 10-count charge alongside co-defendant Joel Adoga, involving the alleged conversion of public funds.
According to Qubes Magazine, the court had previously admitted El-Rufai to bail in the sum of ₦200 million, but he remains in custody pending the fulfillment of those conditions.
The ICPC has stated it will fully comply with the court's directive. The matter has been adjourned to May 7, 2026, for a ruling on an application to vary the bail conditions.
