The leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reached a fever pitch as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike challenged the rival faction led by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to prove its legitimacy.
Speaking in Abuja, Wike dared the group to open an official party bank account and ask candidates to pay nomination fees into it, asserting that no bank would recognize their documentation.
Wike’s comments drew a sharp rebuke from the Makinde camp and other party elders.
PDP chieftain Bode George, speaking on Arise News, described Wike as a "political undertaker" and urged President Bola Tinubu to call his minister to order.

George questioned Wike's conflicting loyalties, noting that the minister has allegedly nominated candidates for both the APC and PDP in Rivers State. “I have never seen anything like this,” George lamented, calling for urgent reconciliation.
In a retaliatory statement, Ini Ememobong, representing the Makinde faction, described Wike’s remarks as the “last kicks of a dying horse.”
The group claimed Wike is lashing out because he realizes he can never be the national leader of the party.
According to Qubes Magazine, the faction is currently awaiting certified court documents to clarify the legal standing of the party’s leadership, while dismissing Wike's media outings as mere "political swan songs."
