The Plateau State community has been plunged into mourning again after suspected bandits and terrorist gangs killed four people in separate attacks across Jos South and Riyom Local Government Areas.
The attackers struck Kogot village in Vwang District at approximately 11:00 p.m. on May 11, 2026, killing 78-year-old Ngo Shettu Badung and 52-year-old Danjuma Badung.
In a separate incident at Kyeng village in Riyom, two other youths—Peter Dung (22) and Amos Bele Danbwarang (19)—were ambushed and shot dead while returning home.

The Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYMA) has condemned the killings as "barbaric and inhuman," noting that the surge in violence followed the military arrest of several local guards in the area.
According to Qubes Magazine, BYMA spokesperson Rwang Tengwong urged the government to move beyond verbal condemnations and take decisive steps to protect indigenous communities.
Residents have expressed frustration over the persistent insecurity, calling for more effective coordination between security agencies and local vigilante groups to prevent further ambushes in the state.
