The Oyo State Police Command has launched an emergency security deployment following a coordinated attack by armed bandits on multiple academic institutions in the Oriire Local Government Area.
The early morning raid resulted in the tragic death of an assistant headmaster and an commercial motorcyclist, alongside the abduction of several pupils and senior staff members.
The armed assailants, who reportedly arrived in large numbers on motorcycles, targeted the Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, alongside the shared premises of Community Grammar School and L.A.
Primary School located in Esiele. During the invasion, the attackers took hostage an unspecified number of individuals, including the Vice Principal of the grammar school, Mrs. Alamu Folawe.

The police command confirmed the incident and clarified the details surrounding the casualties recorded during the initial confrontation.
"An assistant headmaster, identified as Mr. Adesiyan, was killed during the attack," stated the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka. "The command further gathered that Community Grammar School, Esiele, operates within the same premises as L. A Primary School, Esiele. The attackers, after abducting some victims, also took away a Toyota Corolla vehicle belonging to the abducted Vice Principal and later set the vehicle ablaze along the road leading to the forest."
In response to the security breach, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, personally led a combined team of tactical operatives and sister security agencies to the affected communities for an immediate on-the-spot assessment.
"Operational assets, tactical teams and intelligence platforms have since been deployed to the affected communities to prevent any further breakdown of law and order, ensure public safety and facilitate the rescue of the abducted victims," the statement added.
Local community groups have raised concerns over the exploitation of vulnerable forest pathways by organized criminal networks, prompting the state government to temporarily close schools in the immediate area to safeguard lives.
