Bishops Disagree with Pastor Adeboye Over Marriage Advice on Cooking and Cosmetics

Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Archbishop Osazee William marriage advice debate

A group of senior clergy under the Ecumenical Synods of Bishops has publicly disagreed with Pastor Enoch Adeboye over his recent marriage advice.

During the May Holy Ghost Service, the RCCG General Overseer cautioned young men against marrying women who cannot cook and warned against brides who wear excessive makeup, false eyelashes, or expensive weddings that lead to debt.

Archbishop Osazee William, International Secretary of the Bishops, described Adeboye’s stance as a personal opinion rather than a scriptural mandate.

“Is it scriptural for a man not to marry a woman who cannot cook? Even men can cook,” William told Sunday Punch.

He argued that character and industry are more vital than domestic skills, noting that in modern economic realities, many women are breadwinners who may need to employ domestic help rather than cook themselves.
