Popular Nigerian singer and vocal software expert, Johnny Drille, has stated that the rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into global music production frameworks is completely inevitable.
The alternative-pop star urged contemporary African recording artists, music producers, and legacy industry executives to find innovative ways to systematically collaborate with the emerging technology rather than launching a futile resistance against its inevitable adoption.
While addressing current technological trends in the entertainment landscape during a digital industry session, the Mavin Records star highlighted that while valid ethical concerns remain regarding the preservation of raw human emotion, tech advancement cannot be rolled back.

“AI music is going to get more prominent. I think we have to figure out a way to work with AI because I don’t think it’s going anywhere. Technology never goes away, it becomes more prominent,” Johnny Drille stated to digital media panels.
The veteran songwriter drew historical parallels between the ongoing global friction surrounding AI-generated music and previous technological evolutions in regional sound engineering.
He recounted how older generations of vocalists aggressively opposed digital recording software and auto-tune adjustments, erroneously claiming that computer-aided tracks lacked authentic musical value.
“If you go back in history, one of the earlier ways people recorded music was using tape machines with actual tapes and you were limited to a few tracks. After that came portable recorders and then the digital stage with computers. People always opposed new technology whenever it came," Johnny Drille added.
As record labels and international distributors continue to debate intellectual property frameworks, Drille believes the ultimate goal for the upcoming generation of creatives is establishing an operational balance that embraces digital speed while safeguarding deep, authentic human connection.
