In a major political development that completely reshapes the internal power dynamics of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, frontline governorship aspirant Dr. George-Kelly D.A. has officially announced his immediate withdrawal from the state's upcoming primary election.

The high-stakes administrative decision was made public on Wednesday through an official press statement personally signed and distributed by the politician.

According to Dr. George-Kelly, the sudden decision to step away from the gubernatorial ticket was reached following intensive, far-reaching strategic consultations with his core campaign team and national party leaders during an emergency stakeholders' conciliation meeting convened in the Federal Capital Territory.

The former aspirant explicitly identified himself as an unswerving, foundational pillar of the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a powerful internal political machinery operating directly under the unified, national leadership of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.

George-Kelly emphasized that stepping down from the immediate race was an act of political deference designed to preserve absolute party cohesion and eliminate fracturing ahead of the intense 2027 general election cycle.

Affirming his respect for the established hierarchy and quoting sacred scriptural texts to validate his transition, Dr. George-Kelly stated:

“In recent days, the national leadership of our great party convened a crucial stakeholders’ meeting, during which extensive and far-reaching deliberations were undertaken regarding the future of the APC in Rivers State and the imperative of fostering cohesion, solidarity, and strategic alignment ahead of the primaries and the 2027 General Elections. Following that meeting... I have taken the decision, in the overriding interest of party unity and in deference to the supremacy of the party, to withdraw from the forthcoming primaries.

My political journey has always been guided by leadership, loyalty, and respect for constituted authority. I remain steadfast in my belief that power ultimately comes from God, for ‘the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever.’ — Psalm 33:11.”

By removing himself from the ballot just 24 hours before the opening of the party's official voting centers, George-Kelly has effectively cleared a major hurdle toward unifying the pro-Wike camp within the Rivers State APC structure.

The mechanical engineer turned politician wrapped up his address by calling on his thousands of grassroots supporters and allied political structures across all local government areas to maintain peace, remain unified, and throw their absolute administrative weight behind whoever emerges as the consensus candidate to secure an absolute victory for President Tinubu in 2027.
