BENIN CITY — The Edo State Youth Movement for Political Orientation has issued a high-stakes call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, demanding immediate federal intervention to rescue Nigerians currently facing xenophobic violence in South Africa.
In a signed statement released by the group's Coordinator, Ehimen Ebhotemen, the movement expressed deep concern over reports of Nigerians suffering and losing their lives in ongoing attacks.
The group criticized the Federal Government, suggesting that national focus has shifted too heavily toward election matters while citizens abroad face life-threatening danger.
"The Federal Government appears to be focusing more on election matters while Nigerians abroad are facing serious danger," the statement read.
The movement urged President Tinubu to move beyond rhetoric and engage the South African government directly to ensure the absolute safety and protection of all Nigerian citizens residing in the country.
Political Consequences
The statement concluded with a sharp warning regarding local political support.
The movement declared that if urgent action is not taken to address the crisis and protect Nigerian lives, the youth of Edo State may be forced to withdraw their support for the current administration during future elections.
