Operatives of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards have intercepted a major logistics shipment intended for bandits in the Maru Local Government Area.
A commercial driver, Abubakar Abdullahi, was arrested along the Gusau–Dansadau Road while conveying 98 explosive devices, ₦13 million in cash, and three brand-new motorcycles.
The Commandant of the outfit, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, briefed journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, stating that the suspect was heading to Bindin village—a known insurgent stronghold.
While the suspect claimed he was delivering the items to "illegal miners," authorities noted that such explosives are frequently used to target security personnel.
Other recovered items included crates of apples, cigarettes, and suspected Indian hemp.
This arrest follows a similar recent operation by the Nigerian Army where medical supplies bound for terrorists were intercepted.
