The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 1.63 million pills of 250mg tramadol hidden in specially fabricated compartments of two long trailers.
The intelligence-led interdiction targeted a transnational drug trafficking syndicate smuggling illicit substances along the Togo-Benin Republic-Nigeria corridor into Lagos.
NDLEA operatives tracked and intercepted the first trailer along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on July 2, recovering 853,000 pills beneath the cargo floor and arresting its 22-year-old driver, Jabir Kabiru.
Two days later, officers tracked a second trailer on the same route, seizing an additional 777,000 pills and arresting driver Muhammed Nuhu. The dual operation follows a related seizure of 558,900 tramadol pills from a false-bottom truck operating along the same route just a week earlier.

In parallel operations across the country, NDLEA officers intercepted 4.70kg of imported "Canadian Loud" cannabis at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, leading to the arrest of print business owner Chioma Nneka Mokeme.
Additional raids yielded arrests of an 80-year-old suspect in Rivers State, a couple managing a drug warehouse in Benin City, and a Chadian national linked to a 50,000-pill tramadol shipment in Kogi State. NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended the officers for their sustained enforcement vigilance.
