Troops of the Nigerian Army, under the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 of Operation Delta Safe, have successfully raided a criminal hideout in the Ogidigben Community of Warri South West Local Council.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a significant cache of illegal weapons.
Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, confirmed that the troops acted on credible intelligence following reports of sporadic gunfire in the coastal region.
During the raid, the military recovered four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and various combat gear, including machetes and rain boots.
The Commander of 63 Brigade, Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, commended the troops for their professionalism and vowed to sustain the pressure on criminal elements.
“Security operations across Delta State and adjoining areas would be intensified to track threats to peace and stability,” he stated.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to uncover their links to wider criminal networks.
