Popular activist and social commentator, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused the Dangote Group of neglecting a 22-year-old accident victim who was allegedly crushed by one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

In a video shared via his Instagram story on Monday, VDM showed the young lady, who has been hospitalised at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for nearly a year. According to him, the victim—whose name was withheld—has accumulated hospital bills amounting to over ₦5 million without any intervention from the Dangote Group.
VDM, who has consistently called out companies and public figures on issues of social justice, insisted that the company must take responsibility for all accident victims involving its trucks.
“On reaching the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Auchi, we met an abandoned victim of Dangote’s reckless unlicensed driver, a 22-year-old girl, who was on her way for her project and was crushed. She has been in the hospital for 11 months with bills of over ₦5 million; Dangote has abandoned her,” he alleged.

The activist further vowed to protest against the movement of Dangote trucks in Auchi until justice is served, tagging the company and its owner, Aliko Dangote, in his post.
As of the time of this report, Dangote Group has not issued an official response to the allegations.
This latest controversy comes shortly after BBNaija Season 7 winner, Phyna Otabor, publicly accused Dangote Group of negligence after her sister, Ruth Otabor, was crushed by one of the company’s trucks in Auchi. In response, the company pledged to cover all of Ruth’s medical expenses.
Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery had earlier announced plans to roll out 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks for fuel distribution nationwide. However, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) disclosed that truck numbering challenges delayed the scheduled deployment, originally slated for August 15, 2025.
The repeated incidents involving Dangote trucks have sparked public concern, with many Nigerians demanding stricter regulation and accountability for corporate road safety.
