Nollywood actress Grace Bassey, formerly known as Belinda Effah, has joined the United States Navy and officially become a U.S. citizen — a bold new chapter in her life and career.
The 33-year-old film star took to Instagram to share the life-changing news, posting a picture of herself in full U.S. Navy uniform. She announced that she had successfully completed Navy boot camp and taken the oath of citizenship.
“Last week, I graduated from U.S. Navy boot camp as a Sailor and took the oath as a citizen of the United States,” Bassey wrote. “Nigeria raised me. America challenged me. I stand today stronger and more determined than ever.”
The milestone, she noted, was achieved in memory of her late father, Naval Commander Asido Bassey Effah. “In honor of my late father – Naval CDR Asido Bassey Effah,” she added in her heartfelt message.
Her journey from Nollywood to the U.S. Navy has taken many by surprise, but Bassey remains focused and grateful. She thanked her family, friends, and fans for their support, hinting that this is just the beginning of a new purpose-driven phase in her life.
Her story has since gone viral, resonating with many who see her transformation as a testament to courage, resilience, and the pursuit of purpose across borders.
