The Presidency has issued a harsh response to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, dismissing his recent critiques of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policy agenda.
Writing via his verified X handle, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, challenged the former Vice President's qualifications to critique national monetary and fiscal policy.
Onanuga asserted that prior to joining the Nigerian Customs Service, Atiku worked as a sanitary inspector, arguing that his background does not confer expertise on complex macroeconomic management.
The Presidency maintained that President Tinubu's economic policies and structural adjustments are yielding tangible progress across major sectors.
Onanuga urged Atiku and opposition figures to refrain from misleading the public, asserting that the administration remains focused on long-term national growth.
"You know nothing about economics. Atiku Abubakar's only qualification before joining the Nigerian Customs was as a sanitary inspector. You wonder what he knows about economics."
— Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy
