The Anambra State Police Command has intensified a city-wide manhunt to track down unidentified gunmen responsible for the targeted shooting deaths of popular master of ceremonies Isaac Nwosu, widely known as "Azia Nwosu," and another unidentified male in Awka.
According to security updates released on Monday by State Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the victims were attacked at separate locations within the state capital on Sunday night.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that three armed assailants operating a silver Toyota Corolla trailed Azia Nwosu before blocking his vehicle along S.M. Okeke Street, Amaikwo, and shooting him dead in his car.
The gunmen subsequently shot a second victim along Capital City Road, Amaenyi, dispossessing him of belongings before fleeing.
State Commissioner of Police CP Nnanna Ama described the killings as an unacceptable affront to public safety, ordering an immediate transfer of the investigation to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
"The meeting is aimed at strengthening security operations and sustaining the fight against violent crime..." — CP Nnanna Ama, Anambra State Police Commissioner
