We Did Not Authorize It: Senior Lawyers Distance Osun APC From Tribunal Filing

The legal team representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has publicly disowned a petition filed at the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal challenging Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 election.

Senior advocate Adekunle Adegoke disclosed that neither APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji nor the party executive authorized the filing, explaining that legal advisers had recommended against litigation to promote peace across the state.

Despite Oyebamiji voluntarily congratulating Adeleke, a suit marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026 surfaced at the tribunal.

Counsel who filed the papers maintained that the petition was validly executed by Oyebamiji's running mate, Kayode Adereti, on a joint ticket, creating a major legal rift within the opposition party's camp.

"I want it to be on record that the APC legal team has denounced the bundle of papers filed by some individuals masquerading as APC lawyers." — Adekunle Adegoke, APC Senior Counsel
