FG Bans Unapproved Foreign Trips for Ministers, DGs, and Top Appointees

The Federal Government has barred ministers, heads of departments and agencies (MDAs), and other political appointees from embarking on official foreign trips without prior written approval from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

The directive, signed by the SGF, Senator George Akume, mandates the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enforce OSGF clearance as a mandatory requirement for processing official, diplomatic, and service visas or issuing Notes Verbales.

Accounting officers, permanent secretaries, and the Auditor-General for the Federation have been instructed to ensure no public funds are processed or audited for unauthorized foreign engagements.

"Any expenditure incurred in respect of official foreign travel undertaken without the required approval shall be reported appropriately in accordance with extant Financial Regulations." — Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation
