Operatives from the Kaduna State Police Command have successfully rescued 75 commercial vehicle passengers—comprising men, women, and children—who were abducted by heavily armed assailants near Folwaya Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
The victims were intercepted in transit by gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles and forcibly marched into dense forest terrain, where they were concealed inside a remote mountain cave.
Police Public Relations Officer Mansir Hassan confirmed that tactical squads from the Birnin Gwari Area Command executed a swift operation after receiving a critical distress report from the local branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Upon detecting the approaching tactical force, the abductors abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding bush, allowing officers to extract all 75 victims unharmed.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the transport union for their timely intelligence and appealed to community members to maintain active collaboration with security agencies.
