Music executive and entrepreneur Ubi Franklin has emotionally opened up about his struggle with severe depression and suicidal thoughts following the collapse of his marriage to Nollywood actress Lilian Esoro.
The couple, who married in November 2015 after a turbulent engagement period, officially dissolved their union through an Abuja High Court in January 2021. They share a son named Jason.
In a candid video published online, Franklin detailed the emotional turmoil that preceded their wedding, revealing how Esoro developed cold feet and temporarily called off the engagement twice in 2015 before eventually proceeding with the marriage.
Following their ultimate marital breakdown and separation, the overwhelming public scrutiny and heartbreak pushed the Made Men Music Group boss to the brink of suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, where he was fortunately saved by his cousin.
Despite the painful breakdown of their marriage, Franklin emphasized that he and Esoro have moved past the resentment, establishing a healthy co-parenting relationship and mutual respect focused entirely on their son's well-being.
"I remember one time, I bought a red CLA, and I drove that car to the 3rd mainland bridge to go and commit su!cide. The only luck I had was that my cousin came to save me. Several times I tried to commit su!cide but he came to save me. I was so embarrassed; I didn't know what to do."
