Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, in coordination with joint security agencies, have successfully rescued five abducted family members of the Executive Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi.
The rescue operation followed a violent early-morning raid on the chairman's residence by heavily armed terrorists, who managed to flee into surrounding bushes with Abdullahi after overpowering his security team.
Military authorities confirmed that while five of his relatives were safely recovered during the pursuit, the council chairman remains in captivity as intensive search-and-rescue operations continue across the region.
The assault tragically resulted in four fatalities, including two police officers, a local vigilante member assigned to the chairman's detail, and one civilian, while Abdullahi's elder brother sustained injuries during the gunfight.
"Security agencies, including troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and local vigilante groups, are continuing joint operations to track down the kidnappers."
