The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Saturday, August 1, 2026, ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15.
In a public statement issued by Ariyo Rufus on behalf of Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner Oluwatoyin Babalola, the commission explained that the exercise is designed to test the operational readiness and technical efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
The simulation exercise will take place in designated polling units spread across 12 selected local government areas across Osun Central, Osun East, and Osun West senatorial districts.

INEC clarified that no actual voting will take place during the exercise and urged registered voters holding valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the selected polling units to participate to ensure a smooth election day process.
"This exercise is designed to test the functionality and efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) under conditions similar to Election Day. There shall be no voting during the exercise."
