In a historic development for Nigerian sports administration, Mrs. Olabisi Joseph, the President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), has been elected as the Continental President for Africa of the International School Sport Federation (ISF).
The election took place during the 2026 ISF General Assembly held in Belgrade, Serbia, marking a significant milestone for female representation in international sports leadership.
With 82 countries in attendance at the General Assembly, a total of 79 votes were cast during the elective session.
Joseph's victory secures her position as the first African woman and the first woman in ISF history to ascend to the prestigious continental leadership role, following her historic 2019 win as the first female NSSF president.
"On behalf of the NSSF executives, state coordinators, and Nigerian student community, we celebrate this milestone and pledge our full support as she takes on this continental responsibility to advance school sports for African children. We congratulate her and wish her a successful tenure."
The NSSF Executives, through Secretary-General Ijeoma Olopade, congratulated Joseph on the landmark achievement, pledging the federation's unwavering support as she assumes the responsibility of coordinating and developing school sports infrastructure across the African continent.
