The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally dismissed widespread rumors regarding the alleged replacement of its governorship candidate, Omar Suleiman, popularly known as "Omrana," ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party maintained that Suleiman remains its legitimate candidate and no decision to alter the governorship ticket has been communicated through official channels.
The rumours initially suggested that Suleiman would be substituted by Abdulrahman Haske, a leading APC aspirant who briefly defected to the ADC before returning to his former party.
Over the weekend, fresh claims emerged suggesting Alhaji Tukur Modibbo would now replace Omrana on the ADC ticket.
"Omar Suleiman remains the party's legitimate candidate and has worked tirelessly to earn the confidence and support of ADC members across the state. purpoted plans are nameless and baseless.
This is a recipe for confusion and internal division which can severely weaken the party’s chances."
Suleiman Adamu Jimeta, a founding member of the ADC in Adamawa, addressed the speculation on Tuesday, describing the reports as false and potentially damaging to the party’s electoral prospects.
Jimeta emphasized that the continued spread of such rumors only creates internal confusion and weakens the party’s chances for victory in 2027.
