A United Kingdom-based Nigerian teenager, Emmanuel Popoola, and his teenage accomplice, Tayvon Etefia, have been sentenced to life imprisonment at the Old Bailey after being found guilty of the brutal drive-by shooting of 18-year-old Keanu Harker in Enfield.
The court ordered both 18-year-old defendants to serve a strict minimum term of 28 years each before becoming eligible to apply for parole.
The fatal confrontation, which occurred on June 26, 2025, erupted from a trivial dispute inside a Snapchat group chat. Prosecutors revealed that Popoola, who performed under the drill rap pseudonym 'Constancy,' became deeply enraged after voice messages were shared mocking him for allegedly not having the money to purchase mobile internet data.
Seeking violent retribution over the social media insult, Popoola armed himself with a self-loading pistol. Assisted by Etefia—who rapped under the moniker 'Take Risks'—the duo tracked Harker down using a high-powered Sur-Ron electric dirt bike.
Popoola fired three shots from close range, striking Harker in the head and chest as they sped past him.
Following the execution of the hit, the killers dumped the e-bike and attempted to flee across international borders into France.
Elite detectives from the London Metropolitan Police intercepted Etefia aboard a Eurostar train at London's St Pancras International Station just two minutes before its scheduled departure for Paris.
Meanwhile, Popoola managed to slip into France with the assistance of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Anais King, but was later arrested in a Parisian apartment by French gendarmes following cross-border digital surveillance tracking.
King, along with 25-year-old drill rapper Eliezer Mbaki, was convicted of perverting the course of justice, with Mbaki receiving a four-year and nine-month prison sentence for acting as the getaway driver after the shooting.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card strongly condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly and entirely disproportionate manifestation of street gang violence.
