In a significant counter-insurgency victory, elite troops of Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully eliminated a frontline cameraman belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The high-stakes tactical encounter resulted in the recovery of vital, highly sensitive intelligence materials that conclusively establish the active presence of high-ranking foreign facilitators within the terrorist leadership structure.
The operational success unfolded on Saturday night, July 11, 2026, around 10:20 p.m., when a heavily armed faction of ISWAP attempted to execute a stealth infiltration into the Cross Kauwa community in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Utilizing the cover of total darkness, the insurgents specifically targeted a military buffer position with the primary intent of looting critical cholera medical supplies. However, highly alert troops of the 19 Brigade intercepted the movement, responding with coordinated and overwhelming firepower that forced the raiders to retreat in disarray.
"The neutralization of a terrorist cameraman during the failed assault led to the recovery of a Sony camcorder containing highly sensitive recordings of terrorist activities, including operational footage and propaganda materials," stated Acting Military Information Officer Capt. Muhammed Goni.
A preliminary forensic analysis of the captured camera footage indicates the operation was personally overseen by four senior regional commanders (Qai'ds), aided directly by three foreign technical specialists. These include a Palestinian national identified as Abu Ishaq, who serves as the group's chief combat instructor, and a Moroccan doctor identified as Abu Thaiba, who manages healthcare logistics for infected fighters.
Military intelligence noted that the desperate attempt to loot medical goods confirms ongoing reports of a severe, uncontrollable cholera outbreak ravaging insurgent hideouts. While two courageous Nigerian soldiers sustained minor injuries and are currently stable, troops recovered multiple caches of ammunition, combat uniforms, and imagery proving massive terrorist fatalities.
